Isabella Holden is Director of LifeLine Johannesburg.
Isabella is partially sighted. Her qualifications include B.Com LLB and she also has an Honours degree in Psychology. She is a registered counsellor with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa.
LifeLine Johannesburg provides counselling and connects with people, giving them the tools they need to handle stress better and improve their emotional health. LifeLine was formerly a telephone counselling service only; now most of its 17 centres also offer face to face counselling upon appointment.
LifeLine Johannesburg is part of the family of these 17 centres countrywide, all operating autonomously in response to local need. Under Isabella’s directorship, the centres in Norwood, Alexandra and Soweto together are staffed by over 275 highly trained volunteer counsellors, peer educators and victim empowerment supporters who give their time to ensure that they meet the ever-increasing demand for their services.
Gratitude is one of Isabella’s coping skills:
I woke up one day and I couldn’t see. I was just a child. I know that things can be taken away just like that. I have gratitude for what I have in the moment. I appreciate everything.
Isabella is married and she has a 22 year old son.
